Mr. Camilo
Salazar was born in Bogotá, Colombia where he
began
his
studies in classical guitar performance at the Pontificia Universidad
Javeriana. In 2002, he
transferred to the University of North Texas (UNT) where he studied
composition.As a guitarist, Mr. Salazar has participated in several renowned international festivals such as Festival Internacional de la Guitarra, the Stetson International Guitar Workshop, and master classes with world-class guitarists and pedagogues such as Leo Brouwer, Ricardo Cobo, Roland Dyens, Hubert Kappel, among others. His compositions have been selected at several festivals and concerts in the United States, Europe and Colombia. He has been awarded several honors, scholarships, and fellowships for his academic achievement. Currently, Mr. Salazar is completing a master of music in composition and computer music at the University of North Texas, where he held a Teaching Assistant position at the Center for Experimental Music and Intermedia (CEMI) of the University of North Texas. He has been an active performer and pedagogue in the Dallas/Fort Worth area teaching at private music schools, community centers, and privately. His experience as a composer and a pedagogue allows him to develop a unique approach to guitar teaching, making it a more
creative and rewarding experience for his pupils.Mr. Salazar joined Coppell Conservatory in 2007, where he teaches classical guitar as well as electric guitar. His patience and his caring for his students make him an ideal educator for beginners as well as for advanced guitar students. Click here
