Ms. Christina Harvey began playing the violin in the fifth grade.
In high school, she enjoyed leadership roles in one of Oklahoma's
leading orchestras and in the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute. She
attended several summer music academies, including Aria International
SMA and the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute.
Ms. Harvey fell in love with teaching when she began over seven years ago. Over time, she has taught beginner, intermediate, and advanced violinists, ranging from 5 years of age to adult. She has a passion for teaching and for passing on the gift of creating music through the violin. Ms. Harvey received a Bachelor's degree in
violin performance from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master's
degree in music education from Southern Methodist University. Having
studied with Felicia Moye and Ron Neal, both of whom studied with
distinguished pedagogue Ivan Galamian, she is excited about passing on
excellent skills to the next generation of violinists. Through grade
school, college, and graduate school, Ms. Harvey has found much
enjoyment playing in orchestras. She has played multiple seasons with
the Fort Smith Symphony, as well as concerts with faculty at the
University of Oklahoma. She is now playing with the Las Colinas
Symphony, and is a member of her church orchestra, and the New
Life Symphony Orchestra.
