Ms. Catherine Chan started her piano studies in Hong Kong, China, at the age of six.  Later, she attended the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China, where she earned a Bachelor of Art in Piano Performance.

Ms. Chan came to the United States to further her music education and enrolled at Southern Methodist University (SMU), in Dallas.  She subsequently earned a Master's Degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from that institution.  As an Artistic Scholarship award student at SMU, she earned an internship to study teaching private and class piano at SMU's Piano Preparatory Department (PPD).  She conducted extensive research in teaching methods, materials, and concepts, and has been using the knowledge she gained for the benefit of her students.

While at SMU, she studied Piano with Professor Mouledous, piano soloist with the Dallas Symphonic Orchestra for over 25 years.  She also studied Pedagogy with Dr. Samuel Holland, Head of Piano Pedagogy at SMU.

Ms. Chan has been teaching since 1998 and has had experience in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Dallas.  During her years of professional performance training, she has mastered various techniques and styles of music, and her students have excelled in festivals and competitions.  She is also a highly skilled performer and has played at the Beijing Concert Hall for the Central Conservatory of Music Lecture Recital Series, at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and in the Caruth Auditorium at SMU.

In August 2007 Ms. Chan joined Coppell Conservatory where she teaches Private Piano, Group Piano, and Musicianship.  She is highly enthusiastic and she gives personal attention to each of her students to ensure the success of their music education while they enjoy the process, the journey, and the environment.

Ms. Chan is a member of CMTA, the Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA), and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).
