Ms. April
Stivener graduated from Baylor
University with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Piano Pedagogy. While
attending Baylor,
Ms. Stivener
performed at numerous university functions such as Distinguished Alumni
dinners, Presidential Banquets, Law School graduations, and various
other events. After completing her Masters degree, Ms. Stivener moved
to the Dallas area to pursue a Doctoral degree at the University of
North Texas. During this period, she taught private piano lessons and
developed her computer music notation skills by assisting noted
composer-arranger Susan Ogilvy in putting her ensemble compositions on
paper. Ms. Stivener also worked as a music teacher for ages 3 through
3rd grade at the Community School, a Montessori-based program.
Throughout her career, Ms. Stivener has been very active in church
music programs.
Ms.
Stivener
continues the extraordinary teaching she
received as a student by pushing musical boundaries, seeking out new
and fresh ideas, and continuing to challenge her students to use their
imaginations, develop a love for music, and most importantly, have fun.
Ms.
Stivener is Assistant to the Director and is in charge of the Group Piano Division; she teaches Private and Group Piano, as well as Early Childhood Music.

Ms. Stivener is a member of CMTA, the Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA), and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).
